Giving Back to Our Community in 2023

by BlvdHome

At Boulevard Home, we take pride in our local communities. That’s why, in addition to providing the greatest selection for your home at the best price, we have committed ourselves to a core value of community contribution.

In 2023, Boulevard Home held three charity events. For each, we selected a respected charity in the communities of each of our locations to donate a portion of each sale to. Thanks to our amazing customers shopping locally, this year we gave back over $33,000! Continue reading to learn about each charity and how they help serve your community.

Hometown Mattress Collection Partnership

The Hometown Mattress Collection is Boulevard Home’s very own mattress line, created to provide you with the best rest at the best value. It’s our top-selling mattress, and every year a portion of those sales are given to one local charity. This year we presented Roots for Kids with the earnings from 2022: $15,000.

Roots for Kids

Roots for Kids is a non-profit organization servicing Washington County and the Arizona Strip that focuses on helping pregnant women and children up to the age of 5 that are facing various forms of adversity in their life. Some of the services they offer include:

  • Caterpillar Clubhouse - a center dedicated to early childhood development through high-quality education and health.
  • Early Head Start - a family development program for pregnant women and young children.
  • Early Intervention - a program for children showing developmental delays such as Down Syndrome and Autism.
  • Music and Play Studio - a licensed Kindermusik studio that offers families interactive music classes to establish early learning.
  • Parents as Teachers - a home-visiting model working with parents to keep their children healthy, safe and ready to learn.

Since 1993 they have helped over 16,000 vulnerable children in Washington County and the Arizona Strip thanks to the support of volunteers, benefit events and donations.

June Appliance Month Sale

June is Appliance Month, and that means discounts on any of your appliance needs all month long! It also means that a portion of each sale is given to a selected local charity. This year, Boulevard Home donated to the Utah Food Bank in Saint George, Iron County Care and Share in Cedar City, Virgin Valley Community Food Bank in Mesquite and Three Square in Las Vegas.

Utah Food Bank

For over a century Utah Food Bank has been working towards the singular mission of fighting hunger in the state of Utah. 1 in 11 Utahns is at risk of going hungry on any given day, and in 2022, this organization gave over 50 million meals away to populations in need statewide through their network of 245 partner agencies and direct service programs.

They offer services to fight childhood hunger, food box programs for struggling seniors, mobile pantries and grocery rescue to reduce food waste. 63% of Utah Food Bank’s funds come from the community, meaning the funds raised during June go directly to feeding those in need.

Iron County Care and Share

Iron County Care and Share provides assistance and resources to those in need in Iron County, with the aim of increasing their stability and sufficiency. With target populations of homeless men, women and children, the elderly, disabled and veterans, they offer resources that range from an array of case management options for needs such as employment help and medical services, emergency shelter and a food pantry.

They also service the chronically homeless in Beaver, Garfield and Kane counties, relying on the contributions from the community through volunteer work and donations.

Virgin Valley Community Food Bank

The Virgin Valley Community Food Bank is a local food bank in Mesquite, NV, located at 312 W Mesquite Blvd. It provides families that qualify with meat, bread and desserts twice a month, as well as fruit, vegetables and bakery goods to other families.

Three Square

Three Square works with a service network of community partners, including nonprofit and faith-based organizations and schools, to assist individuals and families struggling with or at risk of hunger in Southern Nevada.

1 in 8 Southern Nevadans are unsure of where their next meal will come from, which equates to a total of approximately 47 million missed meals a year. With a vision that no one in the community goes hungry, Three Square distributed more than 42 million meals last year. They also emphasize the importance of political advocacy in creating meaningful change for years to come.

Black Friday Sale

For Black Friday this month, we selected five charities to receive a portion of each sale during our promotion: Kony Coins for Kids and Shop with a Cop in Saint George, Iron County Care and Share in Cedar City, The Salvation Army in Mesquite and Three Square in Las Vegas.

Kony Coins for Kids

Coins for Kids is a program put on by Kony Country each year with the mission of providing a memorable Christmas for disadvantaged children in the Washington County area. 100% of the funds raised go directly to this cause, and the program operates purely on volunteer efforts, meaning there are no administrative costs.

In 2022, 1,632 children from 544 families were registered for the program to be “adopted” by individuals and businesses, which involves shopping for, wrapping and delivering gifts for the holidays.

Shop with a Cop

Each holiday season the Utah Police Civilian Association holds Shop with a Cop, an event in which an officer is paired with a child for a day of breakfast and shopping for warm clothing and holiday gifts. Selected children are at-risk, disadvantaged or have had a poor experience with law enforcement, and through positive interaction this event helps turn their negative views into positives.

They also hold a Shop with a Cop event prior to the start of each new school season, where they promote the need for education and shop for jackets, shoes, clothes and school supplies.

The Salvation Army

Since 1865, The Salvation Army has pursued its mission of meeting many human needs in the spirit of love and giving, rooted in their faith. They have provided assistance in a comprehensive list of fields worldwide, including assistance with approximately 23 million Americans annually.

Some of the areas of need they help in include housing, hunger, disaster relief, rehabilitation and human trafficking. In 2022, 156 million meals were given, 3.1 million people were provided with financial aid and 8 million fewer nights were spent without shelter.
